To have a website you need to have it hosted in the internet so you have some were to point to, somewhere to direct traffic.

Choosing a host can be a somewhat daunting experience, much like choosing a web designer. There is much to think about and hosting packages vary so muc it's not always easy to compare one supplier against another.

Who are Tame the Web?

Being users of Actinic for many years, Tame The Web have experienced many of the issues people come across with hosting setups and the variety of problems encountered. Using this, sometimes hard earned experience, we have constructed our own packages to suit Actinic users. All of our packages will run Actinic from the box with the minimal of setup. Each hosting plan has its own dedicated cPanel to set up SQL databases, email accounts, ftp accounts plus many other useful functions. You have full control of your hosting plan, you are only limited by the package you have.

Our Hosting Plans

We have a selection of hosting plans that can be ordered online and are automatically setup, so in the unlikely event we are not around it still gets done. It normally takes around 15mins for the payments to clear and the server to pick this information up and configure you hosting plan for use.

Once you have signed up and payment has been received you will be automatically sent details of you hosting account via the email address entered when you signed up. This email will contain your settings and passwords. This just leaves you to change your name servers of your domain to ours and upload to your site.

Testing Your Site

If you want to upload your site before you change the NS records for your domain then this can be done. Details are in the knowledge base with the url's required, this allows you to upload and test your site. The biggest plus with this is that when your name servers are changed to point to our servers the site will already be there. Once the DNS changes have settled down, you simple need to change your network settings to your full domain name and refresh your website.

Server Location

London is an ideal location for the primary data centre because of the absence of natural disasters and its central location to the Internet backbone connections from all across the United Kingdom. All our servers have UK IP addresses to compliment your SEO.

Physical Security

This area is secure. The front door must be opened by the security guard who is on duty 24/7/365. Movement throughout the facility must be escorted at ALL times. There is no other entry door into the facility with the exception of the loading door which is protected by a roll down door and may only be operated with a security officer present.

Network Infrastructure

The core network architecture is second to none utilising the highest quality equipment from Juniper, Foundry and Cisco. Setup in a fully redundant mesh, it allows us to offer high availability and exceptional throughput to our end users. Using Juniper M40 routers at the core/order, Foundry BigIron 8000 switches in the distribution layer and Cisco 3500 series switches in the aggregation layer.

Multiple Redundancy

Everything from the connections to the Internet backbone, to the Uninterrupted power supply (UPS) has at least one back up. Two additional generator units are in place to provide capacity for an expansion for another 30,000 sq. foot.
